Blow for Leyland
NZPA , London A fresh slump in British Leyland’s truck and tractor markets will cost about 1300 workers their jobs at two Scottish plants. At the Bathgate plant in West Lothian 925 will be made redundant, plus about 380 at the Albion plant in Glasgow.
Both plants have been on short-time working for several months. Most of the redundancies will take effect in March or April next year and although Leyland hopes a “substantial proportion” will volunteer for redundancy, a number of compulsory pay-offs will be
