More Enz news
The latest newsletter from Mushroom Records, the . Australian company, gives a few interesting sidelines on Split Enz. In the United States, the group’s single “I Got You”
went to No. 51 nationally, but peaked in the top 10 in some markets, and “True Colours” reached No. 40 nationwide. However, while the FM stations liked “I Got You,” the AM stations were not so receptive. Indeed one programmer was quoted as saying the single was too “heavy.” However, Canada was more receptive, “I Got You” peaking at No. 1 in Toronto, and the single is also in the Top 10 in Israel. Split Enz have been performing to sold-out crowds in the main east coast centres of Australia, and the band will also be working on mixing some of the tracks on the new album during Christmas. According to the newsletter, everyone was ea» gerly awaiting Noel Crombie’s decision on the album cover, design, and title. The album is expected to be released in March, and will contain the new single, “One Step ' Ahead."
