Six months vacancy

A senior Christchurch City Council post may not be filled for about six months. The council’s policy and finance committee said yesterday that advertising for the Associate Town Clerk’s job should be postponed until June 30 while officers studied possible administrative changes in the council. The Associate Town Clerk, Mr M. W. Atkinscn, will become the new director of

Christchurch Airport t>u January 1. The specifications for the jobs could change if the council decided on different administrative groupings next year, said the General Manager and Town Clerk, Mr J. H. Gray. Four other divisional officers could take on some of Mr Atkinson’s duties. Mr Gray said it had been a standing practice at the council to re-evaluate positions when they became vacant.
