Avon Valley fancied in Rosehill sprint
NZPA Sydney The New Zealand bred colt, Lord Avon, could have his first win of the season at Rosehill today. The Avon Valley colt trained by an expatriate New Zealander, Harold Riley, has had two starts since a spell, running on powerfully for third over 1200 m at Rosehill on November 15. , Today the colt is 5-to-2j favourite for the 1400 Flem-| ings Handicap in which he I will be ridden by the former . New Zealand jockey, Tonyj Marney. Lord Avon, which won three races at Rosehill earlier in the year, carries 55.5 kg, 2kg less than the second favourite, Massacre, a Seventh Hussar colt, which won at Randwick over 1200 m last week-end. dicap -after his second behind Tulip Town over 1500 m a fortnight ago. River D’Or was having only his second race after resuming from a spell.
