13.75% rise for clerical workers

PA Wellington i The Clerical Workers’ ■ Union has negotiated a new I award which provides for a 13.75 per cent increase on i all wage rates, said the ■ union secretary, Mr John tSlater, yesterday. In addition, service pay is applied to the youth rates in the award for the first time, which will give, increases ranging from a minimum of 13.75 per cent up to 20 per cent.

In the graded rates, a 20 per cent increase on service pay, which will give increases to some workers of about 15 per cent, was agreed. A new technology clause providing for consultation on the introduction of technology into the workplace was also agreed. For workers who work on a Saturday as part of their ordinary week double time will apply at midday, except for retail clerical workers, who already enjoy double time all day Saturday. Also agreed was a continuity of service clause, which will now apply to service provisions of the award.
