Accidents mar karting

A number of accidents marred a meeting of close finishes when the Christchurch Kart club had the first round of its Radio Aven series at Carrs Road . over the week-end. One driver, John Hawker, was rushed to hospital after a tangle with another driver. He suffered severe lacerations to an arm. Three others, John Crawford, Nicholas Clements, and Robin Heron rolled their machines in various races,-but were unhurt. Fotlr skydivers hurtled onto the track during the meeting from 9006 ft, all landing on the mark. They then did six laps in what is believed to be the world’s first kart race to start from that height. Teddys Toybox Midgets.— Bryce Couibeck 1, Christopher Emms 2, Shane Drake 3. Support races. — Hamilton 3 wins, Couibeck 3. Stevens. Doug Sims, Brent Houston 1 each.
