Miss Colleen , Schultz of Christchurch,. b?<cks Jam, left, and Spartacus into the shafts of the covered waggon that she and her friend, Miss Gwyneth Par;mee, have converted to travel round New Zealand. In the driver’s seat is Mr Reg West, also of Christchurch, who has helped the girls in their project. The two girls, both aged
20, will join forces with Mr John Parker, ?<ged 22, of Amberley, to .travel the highways and byways' of the South Island for the next 18 months. Mr Parker, a saddler by trade, will take another waggon, which he has borrowed from a friend, and two more horses. Three dogs will also go on the trip, which will start on December 6.
The three will ropjrf the South Inland’s inland roads at their leisure, sleeping in the’waggons; , . - They all intend to get jobs wherever they can, to help pay the food bills while they are on the road. They will probably spend Christmas at Geraldine, and next winter at Queenstown.
