Australian’s condition critical

A young Australian man who was badly injured in a three-car collision early on Saturday morning was still Critically ill in the intensivecare unit at Christchurch Hospital last evening. Peter Wayne Halliday, aged 26, of 50 Champion Street, St Albans, suffered head, chest, leg, and internal injuries in the accident, which occurred at the intersection of Bexley Road and Pages Road. Helen Susan Dyer, aged 27, suffered moderately serious head and chest injuries. She was reported to be in a fairly comfortable condition.
