Wool eases at Wellington

PA Wellington Wool prices eased slightly at the combined Wellington and Wanganui sale yesterdav. Prices were generally in buyers’ favour compared with last week’s Christchurch sale, but were virtually unchanged on the last North Island sale at Auckland on October 30, according to the official report. A higher than usual part of the offering was marred by shed and pen stain and prices for some high quality wool suffered as a result, the report said. The principal buyer was Eastern Europe, particularly Poland. There was support from' Western Europe. Japan, Chinese interests, and New Zealand mills. The Wool Board, by late afternoon, had bid on 22 per cent of the offering and bought about 5 per cent, broadly, in line with the support it has offered in th® last few sales.
