Wage offer accepted
Canterbury rubber workers met yesterday, and voted to accept a wage offer of 13.75 per cent and improvements in conditions for a new collective agreement. The talks had been adjourned so that the employers’ offers could be put to 800 members of the union.
A new clause will provide for medical checks for new employees at the employers’ expense. Health and safety committees will also be established. 'Allowances will rise by 13.5 per cent.
