Plenty of talent and show entertainment

The Rangiora A. and P. Show this week-end promise. to be an exciting ring-side attraction for speftators and participators alike. The full two day show begins at 7.30 a.nt. today with the preliminary jrdging of the dog trials section followed by the hacks and saddle ponies at 9 a.m.

Mr Brian Page, president of the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association reports that the show grounds should be in perfect condition after three centimetres of rain at the and the good variety of ring attractions should attract a large crowd'for the second show of the North Canterbur- show circuit.

Work by the association’s members on the show grounds at Rangiora during the year has included repairing various sections of the sheep pens, maintenance and general repairs on* the buildings and grounds. The cattle section has been repaired, the milking area has been

extended and the jump rails in the ring have been painted. The jumping entertainment on the Saturday should draw a large crowd with plenty of stiff competition from a large number of A grade entrants including the well known June Cresswell with Freddie: Jane Knox with Wait and See; Julie Hampton with Windsor Grey and Cathy Taylor with Captivation.

Likewise, the final of the dog trials on the Saturday should also prove to be high on the spectator list.

Lunch time entertainment will probably be a highlight of the day on Saturday with a display by Buckets Gym from 12.30 p.m. to I p.m. followed by a special dancing sequence by a Quadrille of horses followed at 1.15 p.m. by the final of the dog trials. At 1.45 p.m. Ken Barwell. one of Television’s “Dog Show” contestants
