Half-fee for a half-service?

PA Nelson The postmaster at -St Arnaud, on the shores of Lake Rotoiti, 100 km south-west of Nelson, faces prosecution by the Post Office — for not paying television licence fee in full. Mr E. Krammer, who also owns the St Arnaud Service Centre, said yesterday that the Post Office had given him until 10 p.m. to pay the $27.50 or be prosecuted. However, Mr Krammer said the reception at Lake Rotoiti was very poor and worth no more than the the service received was

$13.75 half-fee he had offered to pay. . . - “They have returned my $13.75 twice now ..nd said I should complain ,to the Broadcasting Council,” he said. “I have written to the Broadcasting Council, saying I, like many others in rural areas, should not pay double for half a service. They said I should write to the Minister of Finance.” “Why should Government departments get away with it? It really amounts to obtaining money under false pretence,” Mr Krammer said.
