Trudeau victory
The Canadian Prime Min : ister (Mr Pierre Trudeau) has defeated by 158 votes to 93 a no-confidence motion on his plans to transfer Canada’s century-old British Constitution from London. It was Mr Trudeau’s third victory on no-confidence motions since his Liberal Party returned to power in February, ousting Mr Joe Clark’s Progressive Conservative Party from power. Mr Clark, proposing the motion, attacked Mr Trudeau’s plan to ask Britain to amend the Canadian Constitution, the 1867 British North America Act, for the last time and! send it to Canada. He said; that Britain should be asked: to send back the Con-' stitution immediately with- ■ out making any amend-’ ments. — Ottawa.
