New move by Feltex
. Feltex New Zealand, Ltd, is embarking on a programme designed to place it in partnership with small businessmen. The group, through its Personality Furniture subsidiary, is commencing a major move into! owner-operated franchising. [ Mr Harold Titter manag-j ing director of Feltex said! “It is Personality’s intention! to licence individual owner-j operators to sell Personality! Furniture from specialist-re-’ tail outlets.” “The era of the owneroperated specialty store has already arrived overseas, and is now emerging in New Zealand.” Mr Titter continued, “It is the intention of Feltex to make available to franchiseees, through Personality, a broad range of marketing and management services.” Commenting on the announcement, Mr Wai Vasey, manager of Personality said, : “Personality Furniture is already sold by a large num- •

In Australia and the United States, 70 per cent of all businesses started, fail in the first 5 years of operation, compared to 10 per cent of franchised businesses. The Personality franchise is attractive to any franchisee. On an investment of $17,000 a franchisee can expect to earn salary and profit of $16,000 in his first year and $25,000 in his second year.” “This excellent income when added to the tax bene-
