Value of retail sales up
PA Wellington The total value of New Zealand retail sales in August was 12’ per cent higher than in August last year. After adjustments for seasonal changes in purch ling 1 patterns and for differing numbers of trading days, the increase is 18.6 per cent. The Statistics Department monthly survey of retail trade shows that in August, 1980, the total value of sales was $628.4 million, compared with $561.1 million in August,- 1979. ' August’s figures were an [increase of 1.9 per cent over [July, 1980, after adjustment.
