PA Auckland Two New Zealanders who fled across war-torn Czechoslovakia in April. 19-15. are sought by a man who lives in Washington in the United States. Mr Robert Glasgow was in a village just opposite the town of Asch when, one morning, two New Zealand soldiers came out of the woods and made contact with his battalion.
The two had escaped while they were being marched south, away from the German prisoneriofwar camp they had been in for some time.
They had travelled for a month with a sack of oats taken from a barn as their main source of food. The two New Zealanders were rested, bathed, and fed by the Americans. Mr Glasgow said that at that time he was flying small spotter aircraft as a member of the Third United States Army Nil Corps Artillery, 273rd Field Artillery Battalion. He would like to get in touch with the two New Zealaners, but he cannot remember their names.
