Key pay award
PA Wellington • ■ Wage increases of 13.75 to -13.9 per cent have been settled in the key Metal Trades Award. . ■ The settlement, reached after five days of negotiations, means increases of 13.9 per cent for tradesmen and 13.75 for nontrade workers. It is significantly above the trend-setting 13.5 per cent established after thegeneral drivers settlement, The metal trade covers about 20,000 workers and is one of , the main trendsetting' agreements. Its settlement is expected to affect negotiations for factory engineers, pulp and paper industry tradesmen, motor assembly workers and, indirectly, many other awards. '!■J’-'.
