HSIB BILATERAL AID : TONGA BUILDINGS OVERSEER APPLICATIONS are invited for the position of Buildings Overseer with the Tonga Ministry or Works under the New Zealand Bilateral Aid Programme. The Overseer will be required to act as Clerk of Works with the Tongan Ministry of Works responsible to the Director of Works for maintaining construction standards and cost control The appointee will also advise the Director of Works on all matters pertaining to building construction carried but by the Tongan Ministry of Works. QUALIFICATIONS: The applicant must have relevant trade qualifications, with extensive experience in the construction industry as a Clerk of Works and/or Project Manager. The applicant must also have had experience in the supervision and training of tradesmen. DUTIES: . , , (1) Inspect all work, methods and materials used in building construction work for compliance with documents and good trade practice. (2) Instruct foremen and tradesmen on the best trade practices and up to date construction techniques with the object of improving Tongan building standards and skills. (3) Keep accurate daily records on all matters . pertaining to each job. . (4) Responsible for the supervision of New Zealand funded (aid) construction projects. (5) Compile statments of expenditure and the .financial state of all New Zealand funded (aid) construction projects and .on other projects as requested by the Director of Works. (6) Advise the Director of Works on the allocation of labour to make the maximum use of the resources available. (7) Advise the Director of Works and his staff on all matters pertaining to building construction including quality control, standards, finish of work and costs. The appointment wilt be for two years under the terms and conditions applicable to New Zealand Government Aid Advisers. Salary is negotiable and location and child allowances are also payable.
