Overseas stars for New Zealand film

The British actor. David Hemmings, who portrays Inspector Bruce Hutton in '‘Beyond Reasonable Doubt,” will return to

New Zealand next month to direct an action-adven-ture film. The film, “Race to the Yankee Zephyr,” will feature the American actress, Katherine Ross, and Britain’s Trevor Howard. The project is being financed by private investors from England, Australia and New Zealand. The main investors are the

Anglo-. American Guinness brewery group, Sydneybased Pact Productions and a New Zealand merchant bank syndicate.

The co-producers are Anthony Ginnane, of Melbourne, and John Barnett, of Wellington, who also produced “Beyond Reasonable Doubt.” Since completing his role in "Beyond Reasonable Doubt,” Hemmings has been directing an Australian feature, “The Survivor,” for Ginnane. One of his earlier directorial assignments was “Just a Gigolo,” a German feature which is now in distribution in New Zealand. Barnett said that “Race to the Yankee Zephyr” was originally to be made in Australia but when Hemmings and the scriptwriter. Everett de Roche, saw the possibilities offered by locations in and around Queenstown, the decision was made to move the film to New Zealand. Shooting is to begin next month and is expected to take 10 weeks.
