Big ‘Mooloo’ parade
PA Hamilton Saturday’s Mooloo parade in Hamilton, before the Waikato-Taranaki Ranfurly Shield rugby match, is expected to last at least an hour.
Half-a-dozen bands are already confirmed starters with more expected, while up until yesterday about 60 organisations had put in entries for decorated floats — many of them putting in up to four floats each.
In addition a large number of marching . girls, junior footballers and trick cyclists will take part in the parade, along with the shield, “Mooloo,” and the Taranaki mascot, “Ferdinand.” Seat tickets (14,000) for the shield match, sold out in Hamilton last week, but Rugby Park accommodates a maximum 15,000 spectators standing, and there is expected to be plenty of room for people buying tickets at the gate on the day.
