Electric heating units
Avon Electric, Limited have developed a comprehensive Cleanaire and Powerhouse range of high capacity electric heating units to assist owners of oil burners and gas fired central heating systems. The comprehensive range, which can be used in homes, offices, factories and churches and for industrial and agricultural process heating purposes, will be on display at the “Choose Electric ’80” exhibition this week. The Powerhouse 75 is used as the basic design standard for all Cleanaire products and this model has been awarded the New Zealand Designmark. Of particular interest to home owners is the Powerhouse 30. This is the standard conversion for every make and model of the under floor oil burner. It is entirely finished in vitreous enamel, has totally enclosed elements, a powerful, silent forced air blower, air filtration system and exclusive Cleanaire safety features.
The Cleanaire “energy saver” time clock dual temperature thermostat (which can save up to 30 per cent of electricity costs) is optional. The Powerhouse 30 costs approximately half the price
of oil in use. (In the Christchurch M.E.D. area it costs 22 cents for each hour of continuous running.) The' Powerhouse '75 is produced in two versions. One designed to replace oil burning central heating units with ducted hot air systems (in homes, offices) and the other as a “free standing” model to heat large rooms, and halls. This model is physically small but has capacities to heat up to 400 square metre buildings. Its operating noise level is unobtrusive even in churches and hospitals. Another service offered by .ivon Electric is the conversion of existing ducted hot-air oil and gas burners to electricity using the componentry developed and proven in the Powerhouse series. This involves removing the unit to AVon Electric’s Christchurch factory, where only the outer case blower, motor and air filtration system is retained and a Powerhouse vitreous enamelled element bank is built to match the exact capacity of the oil or gas burner. All Powerhouse safety features are incorporated and the unit is returned to the owner and re-installed. This service
enables clients anywhere in New Zealand to economically convert from oil or gas to electricity. Owners of these conversions report savings of up to 40 per cent on oil fuelled operating costs. Avon Electric also produce specialised heating for glasshouses, grain drying, factories and' warehouses and are equipped and have the knowledge to advise, manufacture and install forced aif electric heating of any capacity. Because large capacity, electric heating is designed ' for heavy duty functions, potential applications. and requirements are often confusing to the customer and it is recommended that owners of oil and gas burners contact Avon Electric or their local power authority for advice on any heating problem. .
