Soccer cup to Western
Western gained some small consolation for a season in which it almost reached the Rothmans League play-off contest when it beat Cash-mere-Wanderers to win the English Cup at English Park on Saturday. But it needed to come back from a goal down and required extra time before beating Cashmere. 2-1. . In the ninth minute, from a cross, Tony Orpswobd scored from close range to put Cashmere ahead. Western had chances to get level but Ray Wild’s lob hit the cross-bar and Adrian.Kersten had. his: penalty saved by Cashmere’s goal-keeper. Mark Elexander, after Phil Ayers had been fouled. Eighteen minutes after half-time, John Brand finally got the equalising goal with a strong long-range drive. Seven minutes into extra time, Brand got his second goal to give Western the win.
