Youth remanded in custody
Bail was strongly opposed yesterday by -the police when Prince Albert Walker, aged 19, unemployed, appeared in the District Court on charges arising out of an incident when a woman, aged 72, was attacked in her flat on Thursday afternoon. In opposing bail Sergeant C. G. Jones said it was an unprovoked attack on the woman,and that the defendant committed the alleged offence while already on bail.
It is alleged that Walker (Mr S. G. Barker) unlawfully entered a flat in Hereford Street,, occupied by the woman, and that the defendsaulted her with intent to rob her.
He is also charged with behaving in an . offensive manner in a taxi in Opawa Road, also on Thursday. Judge Bisphan remanded Walker in custody to September 26. No pleas were entered.
