New department store

Work is expected to begin next month on a $2.8 million Woolworths discount department store irt Shirley,

fenders for the store closed last week, and it is hoped that the store will be open by September next year.

Woolworths expects to offer work for about 40 permanent staff, and 40 casual workers, within the new

store. The 6724 sq. tn store will adjoin the present Woolworths supermarket on Marshland Road, and will face a landscaped 510-space car-park. Shoppers will be able to walk under covet from Marshland Road to Golf Links Rpad. The New Brighton Road frontage will be landscaped and the building set well back from the road.
