New U.S. stallion
Special correspondent
Fortune Builder, an Ameri-can-bred standardbred stallion, is due to arrive in Auckland by air today from Australia.
For the last two weeks he has been in quarantine in New South Wales.
Fortune Builder, which is to stand at Gentry Lodge, Ardmore, is by Albatross (lmin 54.65) from Pension Fund (lmin 58.25).
He went 2min as a two-year-old. Later he developed a throat infection and the effects restricted his racing.
Pension Fund is the fastest daughter of the former champion pacer Adios Butler (lmin 54.65). She is also the dam of Fun Account (lmin 59.65). Fortune Builder will join other American-bfed sires, Don Baker and Fulla Cash, and the New Zealand-bred Gentry at Gentry Lodge stud.
