Cut-price tickets a success

The Court Theatre’s cutprice ticket scheme, which; has started for the first time, I was a tremendous success,; said the company's produc- ■ tion and publicity manager' (Mr G. S. Lawrenson). Under the scheme, which will apply only on Monday evenings, tickets left unsold 30 minutes before a performance will be sold for halfprice — $3 instead of $6. Mr Lawrenson said 71 tickets were sold before the start of Richard Sheridan’s “The Rivals.” The play was performed before a nearly full house, even though Monday was traditionally the worst night of the week. The scheme had attracted a very different type of audience, including old people and children, and people who did not usually go' to the theatre. Mr Lawrenson said the scheme would continue.
