Dingwall, Paulger beats inflation
Trading of Dingwall aha Paulger, Ltd, in the first four months of the current financial year was ahead of inflation, the managing; director (Mr M. J. Andrew) told shareholders at the annual meeting. He said that the company was looking forward to another good year (last year: profit increased 26 per cent to $506,135, covering the. 16 per cent dividend three times). The control of costs would be the major problem, and the company viewed the advent of “Saturday tracing” with some concern.
A number of shareholders asked questions about the company’s market strategy, in relation to the rapid «x--f pansion of Keystores, wnicn increased to 92 during the year. The chairman (Mr A. A. Dingwall) said that the company was relying on a prosper’ mix of supermaikctc, mall-type trading and the traditional corner store ; which depended oh' convenient location. It should also not .be forgotten, he said, that a substantial part of the company’s profitabflity derived from wholesaling.
