P.O. robbers jailed
PA : Dunedin Three young men who robbed a suburban post office -of $8485 at gunpoint were-jailed yesterday when they appeared in the High Court at Dunedin for sentence before Mr Justice Roper. ■ ■ Grant Cochrane Stockdale. I aged 21, an unemployed' workman, and Keith John Wright, aged 22, an unemployed painter, were jailed for 4| years for aggravated robbery. Wright received a concurrent 12-month sentence on a charge of using a sgwn-off shotgun to resist arrest on the Te Anauford highway.
i David John Solomon, aged 1,8, an unemployed painter, ' who drove the getaway car, was jailed for three years on a charge of aggravated robbery. All three bad been. committed to the High Court for sentence after having pleaded guilty to charges of robbing the Corstorphine Post Office on July 15. Mr W. J. Wright, prosecuting, said that Wright and Stockdale, wearing blue overalls with hoods over their heads,' had 1 told the three post office tellers, all women, and a woman customer, to lie on the floor. Their hands had been bound with masking tape.
