With the deer farming industry rapidly expanding in New Zealand there is an urgent need for research in this area and the appointee will have to communicate widely with veterinary practitioners and farmers. engaged m the industry. Initially the most significant disease problems in the various deer farming areas must be established and then relevant research aimed at eradication or control must be carried out. The appointee will be expected to co-operate closely with. staff at the Invermay Animal Health Laboratory and at the Wallaceville Animal Research Centre. In addition to the above duties responsibility will be assumed for general matters of stock health on the Invermay and Waiora properties and also through the Regional Director for animal surgery and the use of drugs involved with the various animal research programmes at the Centre. ' The position is suitable for a person , with experience in the deer industry or with research experience in animal diseases of other domestic agricultural livestock.
