FOREST SUPERVISORS WE HAVE two vacancies in our Forestry Division for suitably qualified applicants. Our large forest holdings total 192,000 ha, the majority of which is in the Tokoroa ■ area, 216 km south of Auckland. These forests, in the main, supply the company’s pulp, paper and sawmilling complex at Kinleith. ■ FIELD SUPERVISOR The Field Supervisor’s duties include the planning and control of forest establishment and re-establishment operations—land clearing, - ground preparation, burning and planting and the releasing of trees. The planning and control of the silvicultural operations of underscrubbing, pruning, and production thinning together with work related to land owner’s obligations, protection of growing stock and pie care and maintenance of assets are also important features. There will be some investigation work. The successful applicant will have a Forest Ranger’s Certificate or.be a graduate of the Forestry School. Field experience is not important as we have the facilities to train or retrain but applicants must be physically fit and be able to communicate well. SUPERVISOR - AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY The successful applicant will be responsible for:— (a) The planning and execution of annual flying coverage of all areas of young forest stands. (b) Training and supervision of contract photo • counters. (c) Assessment data extracted from, photographs will be collated for scheduling. (d) Procurement of aerial photography relating to all forestry operations and all new lands acquisitioned. We need to fill this specialist function with a person having technical qualifications or experience in aerial photography, using Vinten and Hassalbad cameras.
