Clearance auction
A clearance auction of 227 including; antique furniture, fine china, - brassware, paintings,, and a big selection of. “old arid ; unusual collectables,” attracted about 350 people in Christchurch on Thursday.
One of the three auctioneers,- Mr C. D. Smith, said that everything in the-2 auction was sold. The other two auctioneers for the sale, which; was held at Smiths City Market, were Messrs N. F. Lowery and S. A. Stent. A kauri sideboard fetched one of the highest prices at the auction, at $550. . A model S.A.I. Steam Roadster sold for $260/and a Victorian piano’ stool fetched $3OO. ■ ' /. An old telephone was sold for $230. A brass bird cage with a /stand, was auctioned for $6O. , /.
