Mary ■> Turner with Lilt and Shafron Deardoh with Charisma. 1;, 'J " - ' ■' Mrs Alleyne represented ■■ New Zealand in Australia. with Johann Straiiss, a medium grade horse which has won dressage. competitions throughout New Zealand. Flush, ‘ a horse ; showing a loti of promise, performed well at the national championships at Timaru and the Horse of the Year show at Ashburton. •Mrs Turner and Lilt .have .been consistently placed in medium grade competitions at major ■shows last season. The youngest squad member, Sharon Deardon,' who is a training college student in Christchurch, ,; has. had a very successful y- season with Charisma, being consistently placed .-in elementary, events at ?i-the ; ‘ fhajor ' shows, .ri This
, combination also won the Christchurch Pony Club’s Scandal Trophy,, and at the - New Zealand Pony Club championships at Masterton, when repre*sen ting Canterbury — Westland, they won the Dickens dressage cup.' Among other. South Is- .. land riders in the training squad is Mrs Margaret Journeaux (Invercargill) and Surrey. This combination was unbeaten at •the national tournament at Timaru, and . also ; made a clean sweep, apart -from the freestyle, at the Hdrse of the -Year show at Ashburton.. Journeaux and Surrey also represented New Zealand in Australia. The Nelson area is well represented with two selected riders, ? Mrs Sue Wells and Aztec and Mrs Liz Brown with ••- Shah Jehan.
