Hurt pilot brought to Chch
The badly injured pilot of - the- Cessna ski-plane which crashed \ above the Fox -Glacier on August 28 has been transferred/ from Grey Hospital to Christchurch Hospital. . / : 5 '/ lari Cameron, aged. 25, was ■reported ■ to be; in a ; serious ; but stable cortdi-, tiprt •in the intensive care; unit last evening, a .: one of the four Australians aboard the aircraft Mrs L Shirley Cains, aged 25, has been transferred to BUrWOod Hospital. She is reported to be in a fairly comfortable condition.
Nicholas .CaihS, aged 25, was in a stable condition in Grey Hospital yesterday, Alan Pearce, aged 36, of Sydney, was reported torbe in a good condition yesterday, and his wife, .Tahlce Anne Pearce, was improving. The condition of the other New Zealander aboard the aircraft, Peter Roodbeen, seed 22, of Hawere, was given as comfortable.
It might be some time before the cause of the crash could be established and a report completed* said the Chief Inspector of Air Accidents (Mr R. Chippindale) from Wellington yesterday. Other flights have reported that the wreckage of the Mount Cook tine Cessna 185 is now haffburied in snow On the crash site above the glacier.
Mr Chippindale said that an inspector Of air accidents (Mr J, Leech) had visited the scene, but had been unable to make a thorough investigation. “We only had a brief look for about an hour,” he said.
When the weather improved, a Llama helicopter would try to lift' the wreckage out to a road, from where it would be taken to Queenstown or Christchurch by truck, said Mr Chippindale.
