Mr Birch in Malaysia
NZPA-Reuter Kuala Lumpur New Zealand’s Minister of Energy (Mr Birch) arrived at Kuala Lumpur yesterday on a a four-day fact-finding visit which is expected to focus on what Malaysia and New Zealand can offer each other in the oil and gas sectors. Mr Birch told reporters on his arrival at Kuala Lumpur that he would be discussing an exchange of oil and gas technology with Malaysian Ministers and officials as well as studying Malaysia’s oil production potential. Malaysia, a net exporter of oil, provides about 4 per cent of New Zealand’s total oi) imports last year. 5 Mr Birch said that New Zealand was also interested in development in Malaysia’s petro-chemical industry.
