Bonus for Riccarton apprentice

Gary McGrath thought he (was fortunate enough to get (the trip to Australia as attendant for My Brown Jug. But the 19-year-old Riccarton apprentice has already had an extra bonus. He landed a winner at odds of 60 to one at the Yarra Glen meeting in Victoria on Tuesday. Ta cap the occasion the successful “bolter" is trained by Gary Lee, who moved from Riccarton to. settle at Mornington a few years ago. Gary McGrath came from the North Island to join; up with the Pater Jones stable earlier this yean ’ He has ridden one winner in New Zealand. His successful mount was Oranmore at Ellerslie in August of last year. .
