Tariff for Zimbabwe
PA Wellington Zimbabwe has been accorded the benefits of New Zealand’s system of developing-country preferences, the Minister of Customs (Mr. Templeton) has announced. This will enable goods ‘ from Zimbabwe to enter New Zealand at the same tariff rates as those applied to goods from other developing countries.. The criteria for determining acountry’s ’ eligi-
bility for developingcountry status include the national income per head of population and literacy standards. Zimbabwe will join countries such as Singapore, Brazil, and Rumania in receiving. preferential tariff treatment: Under New Zealand’s system, duty-free access or margins of preference of up to 20 .per cent are accorded on a' wide range of goods which originate in developing countries.
