The bomb exploded accidentally after an unsuccessful attempt by the hotel’s owners to pay a group of extortionists $3 million. In the original ransom note the bombers warned that any attempt at a double cross would be met by the planting of a second bomb. The F.B.I. is looking for two men and a woman.
