Appointment to board

NZPA Correspondent London The former British High Commissioner to New Zealand, Sir Harold Smedley, has been appointed to the London board of the Bank of New Zealand. Sir Harold, who is 60, was High Commissioner in Wellington from 1978 until earlier this year when he retired from the British Foreign Service. Wellington was also his first Foreign Office posting when he served there as a junior diplomat from 1948 until 1950.
