Mid-Canty’s third victim?
A Canterbury XV, in fact the Canterbury B rugby team, will endeavour to accomplish something neither the provincial A. team nor Canterbury Country was able to -manage this season — beat Mid-Canterbury. The two teams will provide the curtain-raiser to the Canterbury A and South Canterbury 'Lion national first division championship match at Lancaster Park on Saturday. Mid-Canterbury, enjoying an outstanding season, overwhelmed Canterbury Country, 30-0, and was just as convincing when beating Canterbury A, 19-3. The Canterbury B team looked most impressive in beating Buller, 21-0, last Saturday, and-might be capable of doing better than either of the other Canterbury XVs. The team is;
Brian Hunter; Bill Anderson, Steve Hansen, Darryl Park; Simon Brown, Wayne Burleigh; Phil Thomas of Graeme Ellis; John Te Amo (captain); Adrian Muir, Alan Martin, Roger Smith, Ross Loffhagen; Phil Waghorn, Matt Wilson, Gordon Smith. Reserves.— Paul Karena, Brent Oetgen. Forwards: Tony Burrows, Murray Straight, Neil Porter, Ces Patrick.
