Islanders urged to speak up
PA Auckland A Polynesian church leader has urged his people to share with the police any information they may have,- to assist in the hunt for the killer of Alicia O’Reilly earlier this month. ■ Detectives investigating the murder and rape of the six-year-old girl in Canal Road, Avondale, are finding reticence./ among Pacific Islanders a big stumbling block for: the inquiry. The Pacific Island consultant . for' . Presbyterian Churches in New Zealand, the Rev.' T. T. Filemoni, said Polynesians approached by the police should not be shy or scared. He said: “This death has been bad for all the community.
