2,4,5-T
Sir, — The people of Index, Washington, United States, indeed have cause to protest against the spraying of weeds along a Burlington Northern Railroad line. The TVI news item (August 25) reported the town’s residents objecting to the spraying of D.D.T. If the railroad company really was using D.D.T. (a. pesticide) as a herbicide to keep the line clear of weeds, they should be deeply indebted to the residents for saving them from their
folly. The mistake, however, is probably caused by confusion between D.D.T. and the more , controversial 2,4,5T. If 2,4,5-T is the herbicide in question, I hope the residents succeed in blocking the railroad company., — Yours, etc., K. J.. MOORE. August 25, 1980.
