Spring cycle

Sir, —We were pleased to see your droll editorial (August 22) remarking on our efforts to get access through the Lyttelton Tunnel for our annual spring cycle. We would also like to take the opportunity to thank those members of the Nationai Roads Board, who supported our application for , this access. We hope that many residents of Christchurch, youngsters, family groups and oldsters, who would not normally be able to gain access to Lyttelton bays will dust off their trusty old bicycles, come .with us and have an enjoyable outing. Unfortunately, much as we would like to see it, it would be naive to expect to see a fine display of lights at the end of the tunnel. Like certain economic predictions, cycle lights are notorious for their poor quality and lack of. reliability.—Yours, etc., TIM KERR. August 22, 1980.
