Mrs Anne Burgess, of Christchurch, has been elected New Zealand chairwoman of the Associ- 1 a t i o n of Anglican Women’s overseas and outreach section. Sixty delegates representing the 14,000 members of the Association of Anglican Women met for their biennial conference in Wellington recently. Three Polynesian dele-

gates represented Anglican Women in Tonga and Fiji. Other newly-elected officers were: national president, Mrs Marie Taylor, of Auckland: andlMrs Janet Hesketh, of Wellington, social problems section. Among topics discussed in these two big sections of the work of Anglican women were the needs of churchwomen generally in

the next decade, the Working Women’s Charter and the proposed lowering of the i rinking age in New Zealand. Allocations were made for outreach work both overseas and in New Zealand of $24,000, the sums being mainly for education and support of women and children in Christian ministry.
