M. Gillum suspended
Malcolm Gillum, the driver of Gilt Edge in the Addington Handicap at Addington Raceway on Saturday, was suspended until after September 6 for causing interference to Westminster Abbey at the end of about 200 m. John Northcott, the driver of Mark Aaron in the Hillmorton Handicap, was fined $lOO for allowing his horse to run in and check the hot favourite; Roydon Albatross, with about 1800 m to run. Jack Smolensk!, the driver of Nugget in the Wildwood Handicap, was fined $5O for allowing his horse to cross over too quickly at the start, causing a check to Regal Cheval. A fine of $5O was imposed on George Shand, the driver of Worthy Del in the Ron Carter Stakes, for using his foot as a bar.
