Caversham to meet Woolston in soccer

Woolston W.M.C. made certain that it, and not Western, will contest the Hertz Soccer . League playoff contest against Caversham by winning its last league match on Saturday. Woolston beat CashmereWanderers, 1-0, to win the northern zone of the league. It will meet Caversham, the southern zone winner, in Dunedin next Saturday and in Christchurch on September 13 to decide which team will enter the Rothmans League next season. Cashmere had to beat Woolston by four clear goals to deprive it of the title. Uie only goal of the match catne after, five ] minutes when Robbie Latter scored from the penalty spot. However, midway through the first half, Latter was sent off after an incident with a Cashmere player. But Cashmere was unable to put enough pressure bn the depleted Woolston side and Woolston was a deserving winner.

Technical ended the competition on a winning note by beating Northern Hearts, 4-1 at Ensors Road. The Technical. , . goal-keeper, Stephen Reeves, scored twice from the penalty spot and Brian Geoghegan also scored, twice;. ■
