NZPA-Reuter Moscow The Soviet- President . (Mr Leonid Brezhnev) and the East German head of State, Erich Honecker, met in the Crimea, yesterday for talks seen as closely linked to an East-West German . summit meeting, at the end . of' this month. . The meeting at Mr Brezhnev’s holiday retreat by the Black Sea ended with a call for a conscientious attitude tow a r d'S international treaties and agreements, and

for “strict respect for the legitimate interests” of East Germany. Mr Honecker’s encounter with Mr Brezhnev comes little more than two weeks before he .will entertain the West German. Chancellor. (Mr Helmut Schmidt) ' near the Baltic port of Rostock. The Crimean talks, the. last in a series of six such’ meetings Mr Brezhnev has held with Warsaw Pact leaders, were also attended by the Soviet Foreign Minister (Mr Andrei Gromyko).
