N.Z. soccer squad
PA Wellington More than half the Mt Wellington team was included when a 17-man New Zealand soccer squad to play Mexico in Auckland next week was named last evening. The six Mount players — Sandy Davie, Ricki Herbert, Ken Billot, Ron Armstrong, Clive Campbell and Brian Turner — head what looks on paper to be a very strong squad. Three Gisborne City players get the chance of gaining their first international match — a just reward for a consistent season for the trio. John Hill, Keith McKay and Grant Turner have
proved in the City side this, year that they have the skill, aggression and workrate that is needed at international level. The full squad to play Mexico at McKinlay Park on Wednesday August 20, at 7.30 p.m. is: Frank Van Hat-; turn (Manurewa), Sandy Davie, Ricki Herbert, Ken Billot, Ron Armstrong, Clive Campbell, Brian Turner (Mt Wellington), Glen Adam (Blockhouse Bay), Bobby Almond, Steve Sumner (Trans Tours United), Steve Wooddin (Dunedin City), John Hill, Keith McKay, Grant Turner (Gisborne City), Duncan Ormond (Hanimex United), Dave Bright, Mark Armstrong (Manurewa).
