Beer price up on Monday
PA Wellington Beer will rise in price on Monday but the size of the increase is still a., secret: . The price of a litre jug is expected to rise 3c. to $1.26. All glasses of beer will- rise-1c or 2c. . A; spokesman for Lion Breweries said the wholesale .price of beer would be .increased tomorrow, after its gazetting last Thursday. A Trade, and Industry Department spokesman, Mr D. J. Gasson, said yester-
day he would make a public announcement about a retail increase tomorrow. The retail price is therefore expected to rise on Monday. The Hotel Association’s chief executive, Mr J. J. Williams, would make no comment on the likely increase, apart from saying that the association had filed an application for an increase. Tile application would be based on the increase in the wholesale price. ’ '
