Wilkins D. improves

The chairman of Wilkins and Davies, Ltd (Mr L. H. Southwick) expressed concern at the delays in getting large-scale energy-related construction projects started. Speaking at the annual meeting, he said, “our industry has been severely depleted over the last - five years and further delays in starting the energy projects will surely exacerbate the resource problem facing the industry.” Mr Southwick told the few shareholders who attended the meeting that during the first quarter of the current financial year there had been some signs of improvement in the construction industry, and dur-

ing the period there has been a slow ‘but steady growth in the level of work on hand. He added that this improvement does not reflect the introduction of the major energy-related projects which he predicted will be a feature of the heavy construction industry during the next decade. The meeting was also told that the company articles of, association are to be changed to bring them into line with Stock Exchange requirements. An extraordinary meeting of shareholders will be called in November to ratify the changes. ■ Shareholders will be notified of .the date of the meeting.
