Victim rescued
The one person missing after the crash of a Rumanian airliner off the Mauritanian coast has been picked up safely by a nearby fishing boat, Radio Nouakchott has said. Only one person is now reported to have been killed when the Tupolev plane, carrying 172 Rumanian fishermen and crew, plunged into the sea a few hundred metres off the coast as it came in to land. — Nouakchott, Mauritania.
